Beaches Sea-Doo & Can-Am ("Beaches", "we", "us" or "our") is an authorised BRP dealership at 770 Pittwater Road, Brookvale NSW 2100. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you visit seadoocanam.com.au, shop with us online, or contact us.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using our website or giving us your information, you agree to it being handled as set out in this policy.
What personal information we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- Contact details – your name, email address, phone number, and company name (if you give one).
- Order and delivery details – billing and shipping addresses, the products you buy, order numbers and order history.
- Payment details – payments are handled by our payment providers through a secure checkout. We do not store your full card details on our systems.
- Account details – if you create an account: your login email, password (stored securely by our platform – we never see it), saved addresses, wish lists and past orders.
- Enquiry and returns details – anything you tell us when you contact us, including order numbers, returns (RMA) numbers and details about a product or fault.
- Product reviews – the name and review content you submit if you write a product review.
- Newsletter details – your email address if you sign up for news and offers.
- Technical and usage information – such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, items added to your cart, and how you arrived at our site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).
We generally don't need sensitive information (such as health information) and we ask that you don't send it to us.
You can browse our website without telling us who you are. However, we need your name, contact details and delivery address to process an order, and we may not be able to help with an enquiry if you don't give us enough information.
How we collect it
We collect personal information:
- directly from you – when you place an order, create an account, sign up to our newsletter, write a review, fill in our contact form, email us, call us or visit our Brookvale dealership;
- automatically – through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website; and
- from third parties – such as our payment providers (for example, to confirm a payment went through) and delivery companies (for example, delivery status updates).
Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- process, pay for, ship and deliver your orders, and keep you updated about them;
- manage your account, wish list and order history;
- answer your questions and handle returns, faulty goods and warranty claims;
- prevent fraud, spam and misuse of our website (for example, our contact and review forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA);
- understand how our website is used so we can improve it and our range;
- measure and improve our advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram;
- send you news and offers, where you have agreed or where the law otherwise allows (see "Marketing" below); and
- meet our legal obligations, such as tax, accounting and consumer law requirements.
Who we share it with
We only share your personal information where needed for the purposes above, or where the law requires or allows it. This may include:
- Our ecommerce platform – our online store runs on BigCommerce, which hosts our website and stores order, customer and account data on our behalf.
- Payment providers – such as PayPal and our card payment gateway, to process payments (including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Apple Pay) and help prevent fraud. If you use a PayPal payment option such as Pay in 4, PayPal's own terms and privacy policy also apply.
- Delivery companies – the couriers and postal services we use to deliver your order receive your name, delivery address and contact details.
- Website, security and advertising services – such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) for advertising measurement, Google for reCAPTCHA spam protection and website fonts, and website security and performance services used by our platform.
- BRP and manufacturers – where needed to handle a warranty claim or product recall involving your product.
- Our professional advisers – such as accountants, IT support and lawyers, where reasonably needed.
- Government and law enforcement – where required or authorised by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use store or process information outside Australia. In particular:
- BigCommerce, our ecommerce platform, is based in the United States and may store and process data in the United States and other countries;
- PayPal, Meta and Google may process information in the United States, Europe and other countries where they or their service providers operate; and
- if you order for delivery outside Australia, your delivery details will be shared with delivery providers in the destination country.
We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they handle personal information appropriately. By using our website and services, you consent to this overseas disclosure. If you have any concerns, please contact us.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to:
- keep your shopping cart, login and checkout working, remember your preferences (such as currency) and keep the site secure – these are needed for the site to work;
- collect information about how visitors use our store, through our ecommerce platform's built-in analytics; and
- measure the results of our advertising, using the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. This lets Meta and us understand which ads lead to visits or purchases, and may be used by Meta to show you relevant ads.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do, parts of our website (such as the cart and checkout) may not work properly. You can manage how Meta uses your information for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Marketing
If you sign up to our newsletter, or otherwise agree to hear from us, we may send you news and offers by email. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or contacting us. We follow the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Even if you opt out of marketing, we will still send you messages about your orders, account or enquiries.
Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. Our website uses SSL encryption, payments are processed through secure payment providers, and access to customer information is limited to those who need it.
No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we can't guarantee the security of information you send to us. Please keep your account password private, and let us know straight away if you think your account has been misused.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as required by law (for example, tax records). After that, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it's wrong, out of date or incomplete. If you have an account, you can update many of your details yourself by signing in.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days). If we can't give you access or make a correction, we will tell you why, unless the law says we don't have to.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and tell us what happened. We will look into it and aim to respond within 30 days.
If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
